The Story
Enchanted Flame Waratah produces vivid red flower heads in the classic Waratah form - the large, dramatic heads that make this genus one of the most spectacular flowering shrubs in Australia. It was bred for broader climate adaptability than the original NSW Waratah, making it more reliable across WA gardens including Perth's drier coastal conditions. It flowers in late spring and grows to around 2-3m, developing a large, structural shrub over time. The red is deep and saturated - not orange-red but a true, rich crimson that is outstanding against dark green foliage. Full sun to part shade. Well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Phosphorus-free fertiliser. Water through summer. Prune hard after flowering.
