The Story
Silver Bush is a Mediterranean shrub that earns its place through sheer year-round presence. The leaves are narrowly oval and intensely silver - not the grey-green of most silver-leaved plants but a proper metallic silver that catches light in a way few plants match. White funnel-shaped flowers appear from late winter through most of spring and summer, but the foliage is the feature in every other month. It grows to around 60-80cm and forms a naturally rounded mound with very little pruning. Perth's dry, sandy conditions suit it almost exactly - it comes from the same Mediterranean climate. Full sun. Very well-drained soil - the one thing it will not tolerate is wet feet. Very drought tolerant once established. Trim lightly after the main flowering flush.
